After a storm comes a rainbow, and here comes the sun! My name is Iris; the word iris comes from a Greek word that means “rainbow.” Coming to the shelter was a stormy time for me. I am a pretty, petite dilute calico who is estimated to be 9 years old. My owner brought me here to the shelter because he has too many animals. He said that he had gotten me from a neighbor. The change has been very hard for me. I am a quiet girl, and I have had trouble getting used to being here. With time and the attention of the nice people who take care of me here, I have settled in and am now very sweet. My hisses are now lovely mews, and I like petting. I’ve been coming out of my kennel when it’s my turn for exercise, and that makes me feel happier and brighter too. I will need a patient adopter who will help me feel safe and loved while I adjust to another change when I get to my new home.
