Hue's Story

Hue: Former Karen, Current Lovebug (Still Opinionated About Dinner)

Meet Hue, a handsome apricot tabby with white who has a way of quietly stealing your heart—and not giving it back. (His foster mom would absolutely keep him if she could.)

Hue began life as a bit of a dramatic middle manager, especially at mealtimes. While he’s mellowed, he still has very strong feelings about food and will loudly remind you if dinner is even a minute late. You may find yourself apologizing. This is normal.

These days, Hue is incredibly affectionate. He loves pets, flops dramatically for attention, and has serious lap-cat potential. He’s still warming up to being picked up, but with Churu involved, all is forgiven—even nail trims.

Hue thrives with other cats and needs a playful feline friend. He’s socially savvy, respectful of boundaries, and adapts easily to different personalities. He does well with dogs and would likely be fine with gentle, cat-savvy kids.

Affectionate, adaptable, and emotionally intuitive, Hue would make a truly special companion. He’s been a joy to foster, and whoever brings him home will be gaining a very good friend. Hue is almost 9 months old and will turn 1 in May 2026.

Hue is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

Animal House of South East Michigan, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Our adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten $195 for a pair of cats or kittens Please note that we do not do same day adoptions and all adoption fees are non-refundable. AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We are also flexible if more time is needed to determine if its the right fit. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
