Huckleberry's Story
I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.
I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.
I am looking for a home with a patient person.

Meet Huckleberry!

This beautiful girl is a shy, sensitive soul. She came from a house where she had little interaction with people. At the care center, she's slowly learning that people are her friends through positive reinforcement with treats and toys, but she'll need continued support in a new environment. Socializing an adult cat is not an easy task, though, so Huckleberry will do best in an adult-only home with a patient adopter who understands feline behavior and body language. With proper decompression and a compassionate approach, Huckleberry has the potential to become a proper feline companion.

A volunteer writes: Huckleberry's been waiting on the sidelines for the chance to say hello, but gauging the right time to introduce herself is easier said than done. Brought to us from a home with many other cats, Huckleberry doesn't have a whole lot of experience with new people so she just kind of scrunches herself up in the back of her cubby as she ostensibly waits for someone else to make the first move. It's just that Huckleberry doesn't always know what to do when they do. In her efforts to find some steady ground among the circumstances that seem to have abruptly fallen into her little kitty lap, Huckleberry understandably tries to engage in a way that makes sense to her. She samples the treats we offer, but hasn't been a fan of pets. While shelter life has been a lot for Huckleberry, we know a patient family ready to welcome a young cat who is simply trying to find her way home will suit her perfectly.
Primary Color: Tabby Weight: 7.375lbs Age: 1yrs 6mths 3wks
