Houlihan's Story

Houlihan – The Heart and Soul of the MAS*H Unit

When life got tough, Houlihan proved that strength and sweetness go hand in hand. She came to the Oswego County SPCA with her fellow MAS*H members, Hawkeye and Radar, after an unexpected rescue that left the trio needing urgent care. Through it all, Houlihan showed her true colors — calm, affectionate, and deeply loyal.

While her namesake may have been called “Hot Lips,” Houlihan would rather be known as your forever cat. She’s confident but gentle, loving but independent, and never short on affection. Whether she’s quietly watching the world go by or leaning into your hand for pets, she’s the perfect mix of resilience and warmth.

Houlihan is 4 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative, and good with cats, dogs, and respectful children. She’s ready to find a home where she can love and be loved in return.

Important Adoption Information:

When You Submit Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you don’t currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.

For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.

Keep in Mind:
We are 100% foster-based and 100% volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you don’t hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
