They are approximately 5 months old.

Horton is a short-haired gray-and-white tabby with big green-gold eyes and an adorable little gray nose marking. He’s cautious but curious about humans, happily accepts pets and scritches, and is slowly working his way toward becoming a lap cat. He absolutely adores his sister, Nixie Knox, and takes very good care of her - he’s a sweet, watchful big brother who takes his sibling responsibilities seriously.

Nixie Knox is a short-haired gray-and-white girl with a white chest and face, a perfectly pink-and-black nose, and enormous green-gold eyes that are usually watching you very carefully. She is extremely cautious with humans and needs people who understand that trust happens on her timeline. She’s curious, observant, and happiest when her space is respected and she’s allowed to decide when she’s ready to come closer.

Together, they make a sweet, slightly skeptical little pair who are learning that humans might actually be okay.

What Horton and Nixie Knox are looking for in a home:

- They want to stay together forever and must be adopted as a pair.
- They’re new to indoor life with humans, so they need a kind and patient guide to help them continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers can make them nervous.
- They can get nervous, so they need a kind and patient guide to help them feel comfortable with new experiences.
- They’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust.
- They have lots of kitten energy and will benefit from plenty of active play time.
- They feel at ease in a quiet and calm environment.
- They need to live indoors only.
- They have a positive history with other cats.
- They have no known history with dogs.
- They need children to respect their space.

All Alley Cat Project’s cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Consistent with Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV) guidelines, ACP follows current shelter medicine practices and does not routinely test every healthy, low-risk cat for FIV and FeLV.

Alley Cat Project adoption fees are:

- $200 per cat or kitten
- $350 for pair of cats or kittens
- $50 for senior cat (over 8 years old)
- Flexible reduced fees for a cat with a chronic medical condition that requires ongoing care
- Adjustable fee upon request for adopters who are low income, and seniors, disabled, or others with fixed incomes.
- Additional charitable donations are appreciated and support our overall rescue efforts

Thank you for your interest in Broderick and Gertrude! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt them by filling out this questionnaire: alleycatproject.org/adopt

Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Please do not submit an inquiry through Petfinder, as it will not replace the questionnaire and we will not respond. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match. Local Seattle applicants only, please.

Please do not follow up on your application by phone or email as this will not expedite a response.
