Hortense's Story

Hortense is a beautiful 2-year-old buff and white long-haired girl who is still quietly trying to figure the world out after a difficult start in life.

She came from a property where far too many cats were living together following the passing of their owner, and because of that, Hortense likely had very little individual attention or socialization before arriving at the shelter. Right now she prefers calmer spaces where she can observe safely from a distance, often choosing to tuck herself away under a bed or hidden spot while the world feels less overwhelming.

Though still shy and uncertain, Hortense is not unfriendly. She simply needs patience, quiet, and time to continue learning that people and indoor life can feel safe. Cats like Hortense often do best with gentle expectations and adopters willing to let trust build naturally at her own pace.

Barn, shop, or working-cat placements may also be considered for Hortense if a quieter indoor home is not the right fit for her.

Spayed, microchipped, dewormed, FIV/FeLV tested (negative), current on vaccines and flea/tick prevention.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
