High Wire's Story

Hi! My name is High Wire, and I'm the "cat dog" that you've been looking for! I'm a 1-year-old, petite gray tuxedo girl with a personality that's larger than life. People say I may look like a cat, but I'm really a dog trapped in a cat's body! I was rescued from a shelter at just 5 weeks old after suffering a tail-pull injury. I grew up in a foster home alongside three dogs—small, medium, and large—and I've always believed that whatever the dogs get to do, I should get to do, too! Because of that, I'm harness and leash trained and love adventures. Whether it's hiking, visiting the lake, exploring the beach, or simply taking a walk, I'm happiest when I'm included. I'm incredibly smart, playful, and affectionate. I play fetch, love interacting with my people, and always want to know what's going on. I'm very talkative and have a knack for keeping everyone entertained. If you're looking for a companion who is engaged, social, and full of personality, I'm your girl! When playtime is over, I love curling up in a lap for cuddles. At bedtime, you'll usually find me sleeping on top of your pillow right next to your head. Because of my tail-pull injury, part of my tail had to be amputated, leaving me with an adorable little bobtail. I also have some urinary incontinence and wear a diaper while I'm active around the house. I do use the litter box and am remarkably cooperative about my routine. In fact, when I need to use the litter box for a bowel movement, I let my humans know so they can remove my diaper. My foster mom says caring for me is much easier than most people expect, and I'm very patient and well-behaved during diaper changes. My special needs don't slow me down one bit. I'm happy, confident, outgoing, and ready to find a family that will love me for the amazing cat I am. My foster mom says I'm one of the most unique and memorable cats she's ever fostered. If you meet me, you'll quickly understand why. I may have a little disability, but I have a huge heart, endless charm, and so much love to give. I would be good with children over the age of six. Could I be the perfect addition to your family? I am spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, tested for FIV/FeLV (negative/negative), and have my microchip. If you are interested in making me a part of your family, please click on the following link to fill out an Adoption Application http://www.purringheartsva.org and a volunteer will reach out to you within 72 hours. I hope to hear from my forever family soon!
