Hercules's Story

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Apply to adopt with our online cat application: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form4/index.html

Please go to our web-site to learn more about Waverly Pet Rescue: www.waverlypetrescue.com

Hercules was a stray in the country of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Hercules is up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and neutered. He is living in a WPR foster home with the foster lady who rescued him.

Hercules is 1-1/2 years old as of January 2025. He was found in November in the country, a friend called me. It was too late to save his sibling, but I was able to bring Hercules around and saved his life. Super skittish! Loves other cats. He will rub around your legs when it is feeding time but otherwise, I can’t walk right up to him. He is not a lap cat. He was 4 months old when I recused him. Never hisses or bites but doesn’t need me unless feeding time. I do think with time he will become a friendlier cat as he does enjoy being petted and his neck rubbed when I snag him…but again only at feeding time.

Hercules will need a very experienced cat person that loves the skittish ones. Ones that might become friendlier with time or might stay skittish his whole life. He would need to be set up in one room alone to start. (an experienced cat person will know this)

Hopefully there is someone who falls in love with his soul when you look into his eyes and you realize you need him in your life.

His adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
