HENRY's Story
Meet Henry, the dashing buff tabby. Henry arrived at the Shelter due to no fault of his own (a young child in the home had some pretty severe allergies). He lived in a home with children under 12 years old, men and women and was described as friendly with them all. He was indoors only. His previous guardian described him as a “dog like cat. He loves to sit on people’s laps, get petted on the head and watch outside the window”. He doesn’t have any favorite toys per say but like to sit on high places and on tops of blankets or clothes left piled up. Henry may have been a gardener in a past life as he enjoys chewing on plants he sees. Adopters should be mindful to catify their house and ensure that any plants Henry has access to will not be harmful to him. Henry has a history of reliably using the litterbox. Henry has coexisted with another cat who his parents used to pet sit for occasionally but has not lived with a cat full time. Any resident animals should be introduced with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Henry’s adoption fee is reduced by $20 thanks to Shelley’s Angels – a fund that draws adopter’s eyes towards often overlooked senior cats in Shelters waiting for the Purrrfect home. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
