Hennifer's Story
Every coop needs a hen to rule the roost, and Hennifer might be the best one around!
Meet Hennifer, a gorgeous 3 year old spayed Domestic Shorthair. Hennifer arrived to us as a new mother, with her newborn babies. They were a surprising find one day in a man's chicken coop, which is how she got her name! If we were to award a Mother Hen of the Year, it would be this girl. Her quiet and loving nature melted our hearts immediately, and she was the best mama to her babies. She wasn't only wiling to take care of her own kids, though, as when we had a few orphaned kittens come in to the shelter she was more than willing to add them to her bunch! Now that her babies have found their forever homes, it is finally Miss Hennifer's time to shine!
Hennifer has done great with other cats here, and we think she would be happiest in a home with a feline companion to spend the days with. She's also met a few kids here and did well with them as they as they aren't too grabby. We have not yet tested her with any dogs, so we aren't sure how she would do with them. As always, we recommend bringing the whole family out to meet Hennifer to make sure she's the perfect match!
Hennifer is also a very playful girl! She's out of her kitten stage so she doesn't have wild amounts of energy, but she still enjoys chasing a few toys around. If you want to make her like you, a wand toy she can case will quickly make her your new best friend! Because of her interest in toys and movement, Hennifer would probably make a fantastic mouser for someone who is looking for a cat with that quality. That said, we are not willing to place her in an indoor/outdoor situation; so her hunting skills can only accommodate adopters who want to utilize it as a deterrent for inside their residence.
Like any hardworking mama, Hennifer has had a few challenges along the way. She recently had some dental work done and had to have a few teeth removed, so she will need a family willing to provide both wet and dry food to help keep mealtimes comfortable. Hennifer will need to be kept as an indoor only cat to ensure she stays at the top of her health!
After spending so much time caring for everyone else, this sweet mama is ready to be the one getting spoiled. If you are looking for a loving companion with a heart big enough for the whole barnyard, Hennifer is ready to settle into her forever coop!
