Heidi's Story

Meet Heidi! Don't let her Resting Cat Face fool you, she is the most affectionate and sweetest girl who truly LOVES all people.

This ~13ish year old little lady has had a very rough couple of months. She came to OMHS with her sister Holly when their human papa passed away.
The sisters were understandably shy for their routine exams and senior bloodwork at their first vet visit, but they couldn’t get enough affection, would seek pets from the staff, and make biscuits while being restrained for bloodwork.

Sadly, Holly’s health took a very sudden, scary decline in mid-March and she was found suddenly unresponsive at the shelter. She was rushed to the local vet and despite intensive hospitalization, an ultrasound uncovered likely lymphoma or an advanced insulinoma and she was unable to regain consciousness. The shelter manager made the kind decision to end her suffering and have the vet staff help her pass in peace. Holly is now on the other side with her daddy. 🖤

So Heidi is currently a pampered guest in a local foster home while she adjusts to life without her sister. She is so quiet, sweet, polite, and loves to be pet and purrs when she eats. When she's excited to see you, she prances with her back feet and does the classic "rattlesnake tail" and loves to rub on everything in her vicinity to show how happy she is. After politely asking for pets and scritches by slowly placing a tiny soft paw on you, she likes to curl up next to her person in bed or flop out on your desk for a nap while you work. Heidi would do great with another chill kitty (completely unbothered by an intro to the nervous but submissive resident cat in the foster home!) and might also be fine with just a dedicated human lap and a few cat trees to herself.

Interested in meeting this incredibly sweet kitty? Fill out an application (found here: https://www.omhumanesociety.org/cat-adoption) and our shelter manager will contact you to set up an appointment!
