Hazel's Story
Meet Hazel—a beautiful calico who is discovering how much there is to enjoy about indoor life: sunny windows, toys to chase, and someone who knows just how good a brushing can feel.

This former community cat has come a long way from the overwhelmed girl who returned to our care in March 2026. These days, Hazel confidently explores the house, follows her curiosity, and finds toys to entertain herself. Watching her feel safe enough to play has been one of her sweetest milestones.

Hazel also has plenty to say! We’ve learned that her meows often mean she’s looking for affection—or having a little fun on her own. She enjoys gentle attention when she’s in the mood, and she absolutely loves being brushed. With regular grooming, she has finally shed much of the heavy, loose coat she carried from her outdoor days.

At about 14 pounds, Hazel is a big girl with a soft spot for window watching and comfortable places to relax. She shares her foster home peacefully with the other cats, though she appreciates personal space. If another cat gets too close for a snuggle, she may give a quick swat to say, “A little room, please!” With people, she generally walks away when she’s had enough attention.

Hazel is looking for someone who will enjoy her company without rushing her affection. Give her time to settle in, listen to her little conversations, and keep a brush handy—you’ll get to know a curious, playful girl whose confidence continues to grow.

Could you be the person Hazel gets to call her own? Meet her by appointment in her foster home in Galesville, Wisconsin, where she feels comfortable letting her personality shine.
