Haven's Story

***Haven came into foster with her siblings from a large colony of cats. She needs the assurance of other affectionate, gentle cats in order to feel secure. Sister Hart or even brother Hero are easy choices.

Haven is her name, and a haven is what she seeks. This quiet, watchful and reserved little grey tabby girl took the longest to be convinced of the safety of indoor living and the kindliness of her human caregivers. She may be a work-in-progress, but progress is still progress after being in foster for a mere month. Pretty good for a kitty whose ‘wild’ upbringing left deep impressions.

Although Haven prefers not to be touched without consent, she will approach ro sniff at an outstretched hand. And if the hand happens to be holding a Temptations treat or even better — a Churu! — she will gladly accept such bribe! She does not bite or scratch, but is clearly uncomfortable with being petted just yet. Noises and movements are obvious triggers for flight, but she is getting better every day at being relaxed while the humans are in the room with her.

Other than treat bribes, food and play are the way into this cat’s affection! Haven is always the first to come out for wet food, and LOVES the flying wand toys with a passion. You may think she would be the last to want to explore, but she is actually the most adventurous about leaving the foster room to check out new frontiers.

Haven enjoys the company of other cats, and gravitated easily towards the foster’s resident male cat and her siblings for close affection. A bit more time, patience and lots of yummy treats, and she will get there and settle down in her new life.

Would you like to give Haven the true haven of your loving family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
