Harley: Fees Waived's Story

Harley is a bit of celebrity around here and he kinda knows it. He wants attention— all the attention! Petting? Not enough. He wants to be on your shoulder. Or your head! He is a pretty fun fellow!

However, we need Harley to be a celebrity outside of SAS, too! He has been at the shelter since OCTOBER!!

We realize it is because he is on medication for at least the next 6 months to a year to treat an infection in his body that started after he was in a house fire. This infection caused a huge mass to grow on his nose. This mass made it difficult for Harley to breathe or eat. Our medical team sprung into action and were able to remove the mass and give Harley a new nose!

He is doing extremely well on his meds, and it is super easy to give them to him. He is not contagious to other animals or people.

We are desperate to find someone willing to take a chance on this amazing guy who has been through so much. So much so that we are going to waive his fees, despite the cost of all the care he has received. We will even send you home with several months' supply of his medication.

He really needs to get out of here! He is such a fun, friendly cat with tons of curiosity--it's a shame that he has been stuck in a room all this time. Like spring, he is ready to be SPRUNG and begin the rest of his life with a loving family. He wants to play. He wants to knock everything off your shelves. He wants excitement!

We suspect given his extremely outgoing personality, Harley will fit into homes with other playful pets and high energy kids.

This very good guy truly has a fascinating past! Sure, he snorts like a pug and his nose is a bit wonky, but he is the most lovable feline who is sure to fill your days with endless mischievous joy.

Since Harley's condition will be ongoing, our shelter veterinarian will speak with your veterinarian to ensure continued care. We will be looking for an adopter with a strong vet history.

We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquires; we only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires.

We never know how quickly a pet will be adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in a pet but want to see them during our shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, we strongly recommend that you email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there.

Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need.

Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and we’ve determined you are the best fit. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.
