Born outside and brought into foster care as feral kittens, Hardhat and Traffic Cone have overcome incredible odds. In addition to a rough start with stomach upset and parasites, they tragically lost their only brother. But these girls are fighters. Thanks to the dedicated work of their foster mom, they have blossomed into active, happy kittens who are ready to take the next big step in their journey.

Because of their background, they retain a natural shyness with new people and are looking for an adopter who understands that building trust takes time. Earning the love of a formerly feral kitten is one of the most rewarding experiences in the world, and these two are well worth the wait!

Hardhat (Grey & White)
Hardhat is the quieter, more cautious sister—and our brave little pirate kitty! She had a particularly tough start to life: at just 8 weeks old, she suffered a punctured cornea and severe infection, requiring an urgent eye removal. She was spayed and vaccinated a little early so the vet staff could safely perform the life-saving surgery. Today, she is fully healed and feels so much better! The only lingering effect of her surgery is that you should take care not to approach her too quickly from her blind side.

When meeting someone new, her go-to move is to dart up onto a windowsill, where she feels safe observing and waiting to be approached. She is still learning that humans are good and can be trusted, but once she leans into your affection, her walls completely melt away. Hardhat absolutely loves chin rubs! When she gets into a good petting session, she goes full-on mush: making happy muffins (kneading) and even drooling because she is so relaxed. She is also a massive fan of playtime. When the feather wand toy comes out, her confidence shines, and she will happily chase it long after her sister has tired out.

Traffic Cone (Fluffy Brown Tabby)
Traffic Cone is the more social of the two sisters and an absolute little charmer! While she can be shy at first, Traffic Cone becomes a deeply cuddly sweetheart once she knows and trusts you.

She loves to be picked up and snuggled right against your face. She will eagerly press herself against your chest for love, and her absolute favorite thing is to stick her little head into the arm of your sweater or tuck herself under your arm for extra, cozy snuggles. She loves to play and will keep you smiling with her sweet, affectionate personality.

Their Ideal Home
Hardhat and Traffic Cone need a specialized environment to help them succeed and reach their full potential. They will need a patient adopter who understands that it may take months—or even a year—for them to truly settle in and become the absolute loves they are destined to be.

Adoption Requirements:

Experience: Cat-experienced adopters who are fluent in reading feline body language. Previous experience with formerly feral cats or kittens is highly preferred.

Environment: A quiet, structured 1-to-2 adult household. No children, please.

Acclimation Space: They will need a single, dedicated room to acclimate in at first. This room must be "kitten-proofed" without deep or inaccessible hiding places. When transitioning to a new environment, they will likely hide and hiss at first. Please know this is simply their way of expressing fear—they have never bitten or scratched anyone.

Training & Socialization: An adopter committed to offering lots of positive reinforcement. (They respond wonderfully to patience, soft voices, feather wands, and high-value rewards like Churu treats!)

Lifestyle: Strictly indoor-only.

These girls have been through so much and have fought hard to be here. They just need someone willing to give them a quiet, structured space and the time they need to feel safe. If you have the patience and the heart to give these special survivors their happily-ever-after, please reach out!

Filling out the adoption application will answer the basic questions for your rescuer, but we look forward to answering your questions as well. The application has been pasted below, and you may copy/paste it into an email and send directly to the rescuer in order to hasten the process; alternately, the rescue will send you the application as an attachment.
