Meet Hailey
Meet Hailey, a nine-year-old Siberian with a coat so luxurious it feels like a dream and eyes as blue as a summer sky. Her story is one of resilience and grace, and she’s ready to bring a touch of elegance and affection into the right home.
Hailey began her journey at the Connecticut Humane Society as a kitten, full of potential and charm. After spending five years in a loving home, she found herself at the Shelton Animal Shelter, which marked the beginning of a challenging chapter. She was adopted by a woman who lived in an in-law apartment at her daughter’s house. Unfortunately, when her owner had to go to hospice, Hailey faced a difficult transition.
Initially left alone, Hailey was later introduced to her new family’s two cats and a dog. While the dog was kind, the two resident cats were less welcoming, causing Hailey significant stress and eventually leading to a painful infection from a bite. After several tough months, Hailey was surrendered back to the Shelton Animal Shelter, her trust shaken but not broken.
Hailey was then adopted by another woman and with her extensive experience in caring for long-haired cats, she groomed Hailey and tended to her medical needs, including administering antibiotics. Now, she’s a vision of beauty and health, her matted fur replaced by a sleek and stunning coat.
Though it has only been 2.5 months since Hailey joined her home, and despite her gentle interactions with the other cats she lives with, she still trembles with fear around them due to her past trauma of being attacked. With a heavy heart, her current owner has decided it would be best to rehome her.
While afraid of kitties, with humans, Hailey is a different cat entirely. She is a loving purr machine who adores lap time, head scratches, and the gentle touch of a kind hand. Her purrs grow louder with each affectionate gesture, and she’s equally delighted when visitors offer her attention. She’s very food motivated so if you have treats, you’re guaranteed to be her best friend.
Hailey’s ideal home would be one where she can be the sole pet or perhaps share space with a calm and gentle dog. She’s looking for a loving environment where she can continue to blossom, free from the stress of other animals. In return, she will offer her unreserved affection and a purring presence that will warm your heart.
Her adoption fee is $200 and Hailey is vaccinated, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her recent vet visit has confirmed that she’s in good health, though she does have a bit of arthritis in her back legs. Hailey also qualifies for our Senior-to-Senior program so if you’re 60 or older, you can adopt Hailey for just $100.
