Gus's Story

Adopting a cat with EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) also known as cutaneous astenia in cats, isn’t the “easy route” - but it’s a meaningful one💕

Not too long ago we took these sweet kids in from the County Shelter after being surrendered. They have a pretty rare genetic connective tissue disorder that makes their skin more fragile, loose, and stretchy along with joint laxity.

But don’t let this disorder deter you, or define them. Gus and Lil Sister have THE BEST personalities and their condition is manageable with a safe environment to prevent injuries!

Cats with special needs are often overlooked but we know the truth of loving something that others would deem “difficult” or “flawed”.

Giving Gus or Lil Sister a home means changing their lives and YOURS. Loving a special needs animal gives you the opportunity to become a more skilled and intentional pet owner and person. You learn a lot about preventative care, routine, and advocacy for them. You build confidence, sharpen your instincts, and the small wins always feel huge to see them thrive in your care.

It’s a time commitment, sure. But with these guys being older, calm, and full of love. Anyone who is willing to learn will be signing up for the most incredible companion and we would LOVE to guide you through this process.

If your heart is calling you to adopt Gus or Lil Sister (they are not bonded) please apply and we will see if it’s a good fit!
