Grappa's Story

In the search for perfect home, Grappa prefers to take his time. HeâÂ€ÂTMs a gentle soul wrapped inside an older feline body looking for a particular place to lay his head. He lives his life with an air of shyness, but deep down, heâÂ€ÂTMs happy to mingle when heâÂ€ÂTMs good and ready. HeâÂ€ÂTMs mature in his style, and an expert at his household skills. A sophisticated senior, Grappa hasnâÂ€ÂTMt always lived indoors. Once he discovered the niceties of a gentle home, though, he knew that would be the ideal life he wants. He may enjoy the company of just the right cat, but only if they are low-key and quiet, and needing the same special care as him. Grappa appears aloof, but thatâÂ€ÂTMs just a cover. His quiet curiosity nudges him to check in when he feels like it. Grappa is also FIV+, which simply means heâÂ€ÂTMll need a loving indoor home and routine veterinary care, just like many cats who live long, happy lives. Grappa wants to find a forever home that allows him to keep to himself when he likes, make an appearance when the mood strikes, and have a warm, quiet place to call his own. HeâÂ€ÂTMll open up to kind hearts, especially ones who want a cat in their home who has a kind and quiet heart, too. This animal is FIV+. FIV is a virus that can cause a weakened immune system, but most FIV+ cats live normal lives with no difference in lifespan compared to other cats. FIV is spread only through deep bite wounds or mating, so thereâÂ€ÂTMs minimal risk to other cats in the home, especially since all DPA cats are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We recommend slow introductions when bringing home any new pet and can provide resources and guidance for a peaceful transition. Regular vet visits to detect illnesses early are important for FIV+ cats, but many FIV+ cats will live long, healthy lives with little to no symptoms. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for cats over six months to seven years is $100, kittens under six months is $150, cats eight years and over are $50 unless specified otherwise. Dallas Pets Alive's Adoption Policy

To adopt a pet from Dallas Pets Alive!, you must: — Be at least 18 years of age. — Be willing and able to spend the time and resources necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for your new pet. — Have an unexpired, government-issued photo ID (e.g. driver’s license or state ID) that lists your current address. If your ID does not list your current address, we will accept an unexpired photo ID along with a current utility bill. — Live within four hours of Dallas. — Provide written verification of home ownership or landlord’s approval to have a pet of the breed and size at your residence.
