Meet Grace
GRACE is also a special-needs girl, because she has megaesophagus, which means her esophagus does not contract properly. This makes it difficult for her to keep food down. While megaesophagus is not curable, it is being well-managed through her diet and daily medication that helps with GI contractions. GRACE may only eat pate-type canned food, mixed with a little water and her medication; she eats it easily and has gained weight while in our care by using an elevated feeder. (The elevator feeder would be donated to the adopter.)
Additionally, she was recently diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease. With proper treatment, including quality kidney diet and plenty of fresh water, her condition could improve or the progress of the disease could slow.
Although GRACE gets along with other cats and she’d likely do well with a polite dog, it is strongly advised that GRACE be an only pet. If GRACE eats any kibble, it could have serious consequences on her GI system.
If you’d like to meet GRACE, please call Humane Haven Animal Shelter (630-378-4208) for more information or for an appointment. All Humane Haven cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV tested, and have had their distemper and rabies vaccines.
