Gillian's Story

Is she a cow? Is she a kitten?

Gillian appears to be a mix of both, but what we do know is that she is a white and black ball of fun. She is about 9 months old and ready to be won over by her person; she is searching for a cat whisperer who understands how scary the shelter is for a little kitty like her.

She is her best self when the building is quiet, and she spends all night pouncing on toys and the early mornings watching the birds. Gillian has a favorite window shelf in the Library Cattery, and she tilts her head and wags her tail when something flies by.

Gilly enjoys pawing at feather wands with her feline roommates and taking treats from our volunteers' hands. She will even lick our fingers to make sure no crumbs are left behind.

We can picture her cow-spotted self thriving in a home with another kitty and an owner who can provide a safe, reassuring environment. She is a lovely little girl and needs a household with at least one resident cat, as she finds great comfort in other kitties. Come visit Gillian soon!

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a cat.

Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. This includes FIV/FeLV testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10 - 1
Wed Night: 7:30 - 9
Weekends: 10 - 3
