She must have a cat companion in her new forever home.<br/><br/>Gidget gave birth to several kittens in a backyard. This little family was happy to be brought inside to safety and now await their forever home! <br/><br/>A beautiful mommacat with a long, sleek and silky black coat and incredibly sparkling green eyes, Gidget survived the outdoors for the first few years of her young life on her own, guarding her kittens from harm and scraping by on the kindness of people. However, her nature is a timid one and the wariness was reinforced by her past experiences, and she may occasionally give a little hiss when faced with strangers she feels the need to defend herself and her kittens from. Underneath all that instinctive bluster, there is no threat, merely Gidget’s way of communicating her unease. She is truly a sweet, soft soul needing the comforting reassurance of her human guardians now that she is safely indoors.<br/><br/>She prefers to watch from the sideline instead of participating in play and treat time. Recently, she has started to show interest in a toy that is irresistible, and has begun to play! Small steps, but for Gidget, this is definitely a sign of positive progress! Do not be discouraged by the airplane ears she presents, she likes to be petted gently on her head and accepts little chin scratches when she feels comfortable and relaxed. Soft brushing for a short time is well tolerated, even if Gidget remains still for the session and will not turn over to continue on the other side. <br/><br/>Gidget has a way to go yet on her journey to fully trust the people in her space and be comfortable with the new world she is now navigating. A patient, understanding family who is willing to give her space and let her set the pace of her adjustment, will be rewarded by her eventual surrender to love. A window perch to gaze out at the world, a friendly, calm cat companion to smooth the way, and Gidget will be content. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
