Genesis's Story
Genesis (about 5 and a half months old as of 12/03/25) is a female grey tabby and white shorthaired kitten. Genesis was born to a Waukegan stray that was trapped for spaying just before she gave birth so her kittens were delivered in a cage. Normally this would be an ideal situation and the kittens would all grow up very friendly, but the family that found her mom didn't realize they needed to spend time with the kittens until they came in for their first shots at 6 weeks old and were acting feral. We advised them to spend more time with the kittens but progress was slow because they didn't have a lot of time or experience with ferals so at 3 and a half months old we moved them into a more experienced foster home that would have time to essentially tame them. Genny in some ways seemed the most scared of her litter, with the most expressive wide eyes that often look a little shocked or terrified, but she actually came around to loving people the fastest. She's a real sucker for a cheek scratch and as soon as she figured out she could climb in a lap and get cheek scratches and pets she started hopping into them voluntarily and will roll around for hours in your arms if you let her. When it comes to playing she is an absolute goofball that trills and chirps while she zooms around, batting little toys every which way or playing a round of "the floor is lava" with her littermates. She's got a lot of energy and would do well with another young playmate, but we do think she'd be fine with a middle aged cat friend that doesn't want to play since she spend so much time focused on her toys. She hasn't lived with dogs but likes watching them on TV and would probably learn to love a calm, cat friendly dog. She'd be great with most older kids but since she's a little shy from her slow start a really chaotic toddler would be too much for her.

Genesis will be spayed on December 11th and eligible to go to her new home the following week once she's healed up! Apply now so you can bring her home ASAP!
