Meet Gemma, a one-year-old tabby with the most gorgeous markings and absolutely stunning golden eyes. She came to us with her five babies — Pebbles, Opal, Flint, Mica, and Slate — after their little family was found living in a quarry in Waterbury. Now that her babies are adopted, it’s time for this beautiful mama to have her chance, too.<br/><br/>While Gemma is understandably very shy and cautious around people, she isn’t completely feral. Because of this, we believe there’s a good chance she once belonged to someone and may have been dumped at the quarry, left to fend for herself and eventually raise her babies there.<br/><br/>Despite everything she’s been through, we see so much potential in this beautiful girl. Gemma may not be the kitty who immediately runs up asking for pets or curls into your lap on day one — but that doesn’t mean she won’t get there. She simply needs someone willing to give her what she hasn’t had enough of: patience, time, consistency, and love.<br/><br/>With the right family who will allow her to adjust at her own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way, we truly believe Gemma can continue learning to trust and blossom into the loving house cat she deserves to be. Sometimes the animals who make you work a little harder for their trust end up making the journey that much more special. <br/><br/>Her adoption fee is $225, and Gemma is vaccinated, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped, and spayed.
