Fuzz Aldrin's Story

Commander Fuzz Aldrin

Let me introduce myself, not that I should need to, after all, I am the Commander Fuzz Aldrin.

I do command attention, even though my fosters shorten my name to Fuzz all the time, and it gets even worse when I get called Fuzzbutt! I may be cute and small, but I am also indignant and I leave little tufts of white fluff everywhere, so there!

I arrived at CARMA HQ last October (2025) when I came in for a long overdue haircut. It looked like the matting had turned into some kind of armoured space suit. No one is exactly sure how old I am, but I was seen around the feeding station where I was trapped since 2018, so I’m definitely not a youngster, but over the years it’s obvious that I had people in my life at times as I’m quite social.

In early January of 2026 my fosters were tasked with helping me adjust to indoor life with humans. That didn’t take long, within a couple of days, I was happily getting pets, and neck rubs, and devouring wet food every chance I got.

Early February, I got my dental surgery, and what a relief that was. I had all but 2 teeth removed, it was necessary, and now I feel so much better. I recovered from that really well, and while I was there the Doctors checked me out, including a lump on my throat. The Dr had it tested and called it a “poorly cellular or stroma-rich lesion”. It’s something that we are monitoring by touch to see if it changes in shape or size. At this time it hasn’t changed since it was noticed in January, so currently stable, but it’s something you will need to watch.

For a not young cat, I sure like to play. I love fishing-rod type toys with feathers and if you throw toys, I’ll chase and pounce. I’ve trained my foster humans to provide treats on demand, I show up, I look adorable, I get treats; if I don’t get treats, I will pet them with my paw. During the day, I like to sleep under the bed, but in the late afternoon, I come out to play, get attention, roll around on the floor, and look cute. By 7PM I expect my wet food dinner. I get a bit dramatic without it, a little pacing and theatrics gets it done. Once I settle in to my favourite chair though, I am just the sweetest.

I like the company of other cats and get on well with all cats in the house. I tolerate the dog though. It’s not that he’s that big, only 20 lbs, but he can be noisy and look like he’s going to chase me, and that bothers me. If your dog doesn’t make a lot of noise and is polite, I should be OK once I get used to it.

As for young humans, they need to understand that I can be pushy, pulling or nibbling at hands (not that 2 teeth can nibble that hard) when I want more attention, or I may swat you away if I get overstimulated.

I desperately need to learn to like being brushed, and my fosters are trying, but I’m not too patient with it. I will need to be checked for matting and you will need to look after mats before they become big and uncomfortable. Right now, my fosters are able to use grooming tools to look after knots as they happen but they have to be quick as I won’t cooperate for long.

Please consider adopting Fuzz Aldrin into your loving home. If you can’t adopt him, please share his story and help him find his forever home.

If you are interested in adopting Fuzz Aldrin, please contact us at frederictoncarma@gmail.com.

Fill out an adoption application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfZFfrReR_SFRgIQYba6kxfNkxsiQ0bktXtIIrJb_ZRPKQbcg/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1U6c4NbehUd-O2WaqGAxpZvrcuovBBlDXKgSEGbvyZGPkORDyB21KaHGs

As of October 2024, the adoption donations will be:

- Adult cat (over 12 months): $125
- Kitten (12 months and under): $200

Would you like to make a one-time donation to help cats like Fuzz Aldrin?
