Frosty Fern's Story

Frosty Fern may have started her life on the streets of Brooklyn, but she is slowly learning that the indoor life is much sweeter. She was fed daily by an Animal Haven staff member, until an approaching winter storm encouraged us to safely bring her to our rescue.

She was once a scared kitten with little experience with humans, but now she is building more trust each day. As she continues to learn that humans aren't so scary, gentle socialization will be an important part of her journey. Frosty Fern is still cautious of people and may hiss to express her fear of being handled. She prefers to keep her distance for now and watch you attentively from her safe space. After spending some time in foster, we've learned that she is a very playful kitten that loves a wand toy, and we think having a feline friend to go home to would help build her confidence. Each day she grows fiercer, and ready to approach the world around her.

Frosty Fern will need a patient, gentle home willing to let her move at her own pace. With consistency and kindness, Frosty Fern slowly continues to show her soft side- curious eyes, cautious approaches, and the quiet bravery of a kitten learning that the world isn't so scary. She would thrive in a calm home and may do best with an experienced adopter who understands that trust is earned, not expected. Having a safe, cozy spot to retreat to would be helpful for her to acclimate at her own pace. It's been rewarding to see her blossom, and we can't wait for the right person to see the beautiful companion she can become. If you are up for the rewarding challenge, consider adopting Frosty Fern!
