Freya - FL's Story
Tampa, Florida

Freya, a (estimated) 5- to 6-year old, front-declawed, spayed female bengal, was found as a stray. Here is what we know about Freya:

Freya is a good-natured, well-mannered lady. She seeks out her humans for affection, happy to be the center of their attention.Freya follows her humans anywhere they go and loves napping/sleeping with them. She comes when she is called. She is compliant when asked to get into a carrier, content when traveling in a car, and is easy to handle during vet visits. Her favorite pastime is sunbathing by a window while she watches geckos run around the yard.

Freya is current on well check and vaccines; FeLV/FIV negative; and has had perfect litterbox usage. She has one formed stool each day. She came to GLBR approximately 2 pounds underweight and needs to gain 1-1.5 pounds.Inexplicably, Freya will not eat soft, wet cat food.

Freya drinks approximately 1 cup of water a day and urinates 6 or more times over a 24-hour period, as mentioned, always in her litter box. These findings prompted investigation of her kidney function and consultation with a board-certified internal medicine veterinarian to better understand her health status. (A report from the expert is available to persons interested in adopting Freya.) In brief, Freya had an elevated blood SDMA concentration on the second of two tests, which may be used to diagnose early kidney disease; however, the expert noted that we don't know when or if renal disease could progress. The expert suggested that a chemistry panel and urinalysis be re-checked in 3-4 months; if all lab parameters and her clinical status are stable at that time, the interval of lab testing can be extended to every six months (and then once yearly). Otherwise, no specific diet or medical therapy is warranted at this time.

Freyas Ideal Forever Family:
No other pets.
Quiet home; no young children.
At least one family member that is retired or works from home.

Freya had to fend for herself for an unknown period of time, during which she struggled just to survive. A loving family and a safe forever home for Freya is long overdue.

Transportation is available to the ideal forever home.

If interested email us at info@greatlakesbengalrescue.com
