Fred's Story
Hi! My name is Fred! These really nice people (who named me Fred) brought me in from the brutal cold on January 29 th . I’m sure glad I trusted them. I had a bad cold and they took me to Urgent Care. I got some meds and am recovering nicely in their warm home. They really like me and tell me I am super sweet! Unfortunately, their cat has some medical issues and
meeting me could cause him stress which would not be good for his medical
issues. I totally understand that. So, we are trying to find a forever home for me where I can be someone’s loyal and cherished companion.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself:

Once a stray, I am now a total lovebug. I am an adult male cat believed to be around 6 years old. I am about 15 pounds. I am as friendly as they come. I LOVE attention. I have a BIG heart. I am affectionate, love being petted, and reward affection with loud, happy purrs. I am happy to sit in your lap or just lay next to you.

My daily routine involves pets/affection, eating and napping. I listen to smooth jazz all day, every day. I just like to be around these humans who are taking very good care of me. They tell me that I will never go outside again and I am 100% on board with that. Inside life totally suits me and I LOVE it!

I am ready to trade in street life for a cozy home and a human to call my own.

Will you be my forever home?

Fred tested positive for FIV. FIV is not a death sentence for cats. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a retrovirus that attacks a cat's immune system, making them vulnerable to infections, similar to HIV in humans, but it only affects cats and is not transmissible to humans. It spreads primarily through deep bite wounds from fights, and infected cats can appear healthy for years before showing symptoms like fever, weight loss, poor coat, dental issues and chronic infections. Management focuses on keeping the cat indoors, preventing secondary infections, and providing good veterinary care, allowing many FIV-positive cats to live long lives.

Fred was treated for parasites, neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for FeLV, but positive for FIV.
