She always stayed by herself across a busy street, crossing only to eat while avoiding the other cats. She was sweet with her feeder, who even witnessed neighbors pick her up, carry her away, and then drop her in the street.<br/><br/>We do not know exactly what happened early in Francines' life, but it is possible she was separated from her mother too young and never learned normal cat social or survival skills before ending up outside.<br/><br/>When we first trapped her, the stress of being surrounded by other cats in our holding space completely overwhelmed her. We returned her to the only place she knew, where her feeder could continue watching over her. Just two days later, she showed up limping, and we brought her back inside for good.<br/><br/>Today, Francine lives safely in a foster home with her own room away from the resident cats. She has done the work. She found a medication that helps. She has learned that people are safe and that life doesn't have to feel overwhelming.<br/><br/>Now all she needs is someone willing to meet her where she is.<br/><br/><br/>She has tested negative for both FeLV and FIV.
