Foxtail's Story

Meet #weedybunch - #FOXTAIL, #IVY and non relative but equally as great - #THATCH, available for adoption through Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue! ??

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST BEFORE INQUIRING. THANK YOU!

#HEREISTHESCOOP ?
Thistle, Foxtail and Ivy were rescued from the shelter on June 3rd. They were abandoned in a trailer home and found by animal control.

I met them at the shelter and knew it was no place for them to be; as they needed help being socialized and time to grow into healthy, confident kittens. Kittens are adorable, but a full time job and can easily get ill in a shelter environment. These guys needed hands on, constant TLC and attention, and I knew we could provide that. Although I truly prefer kittens this young to be in a foster and not a rescue facility, we had the means to help them, so I went for it. I knew our volunteers were up for the challenge of caring for them. They've done a great job of following the ever changing kitten protocol I have had to adjust and change almost every other day!

Our program is different than any other rescue I've ever known and we strive for a high quality, controlled environment for all our rescues. Anyone can house a bunch of cats. That's not what we do. Or even close. Our rescues are family and each one gets 110%. Kittens.... Well, kittens need 210%. They are a full time job and when they struggle with kitten issues, it's ten fold.

Our three kittens had diarrhea when we got them. Bad. Horrible. Just something that happens when they are taken from mom and forced onto formula or food - they need to be weaned. And they didn't have that opportunity. So that right there sent their baby tummys into an absolute upheaval. I was stuck between getting enough calories in them so they didn't fade, and getting the diarrhea to stop so they didn't become dehydrated, and fade. It's a scary position to be in. Diarrhea can be deadly in infant Kitties, so I was doing all I could and working with our vets to try to get them stable.

They were doing well, besides their stools. They were eating. They were drinking. They were playing and thriving! It was just a long, long trial and error with different meds and foods and time to try to get them stabilized and gaining weight and getting them regulated.

While we were working on that, another orphan kitten fell into our lap. Good ol Fat Thatch! He was completely feral at four weeks old and we added him to the Weedy Bunch! Normally, we would do a quarantine period before introducing cats to each other but I knew the three originals didn't have anything contagious and neither did he. Plus he needed them to be able to take down and begin his journey of accepting human love. They were his therapy kittens. Sometimes cats are the teachers we need to help other cats. We took the risk and put them together immediately and it was the right choice - he is doing amazing and loves, loves, loves his kitten step bros and sis.

It took some time, and a lot of exertion on our end, but we are finally ready to place these cute little babies up for adoption!

#FAMILYGOALS ??
1??First and foremost: yes they are darling! But kittens are a 15+ year commitment. We are looking for forever and ever homes, not until homes. Like with all our rescues, if you'd consider rehoming due to allergies, moving, relationship issues or any other reason - please do not inquire.

2??Kittens. Whew. Kittens are a lot of work. They have a ton of energy, they're hyper curious and constantly on the go. But boy are they fun! These Kitties are active vibrant bundle of joy and are enjoying learning how to be a cat, while still learning boundaries. A good rule of thumb with kittens is, if the behavior won't be cute or desirable as an adult, don't allow it as a kitten! These sweet things are at that stage where they're just simply learning rules of life and will continue to need that teaching.

3??Kittens love to play. With anything and everything. Nothing is off limits and everything is harmless in their eyes. It's important you have the time to play with them properly to expell that energy that they may displace inappropriately if not properly stimulated.

4??That being said - hold onto your hats because you're in for a whirlwind of laughs and love. There is no greater joy than watching a kitten play, romp and grow into a beautiful adult best friend forever. These kittens have been pure joy and although it wasn't always rainbows and roses with us, we've enjoyed every minute. They are precious, amazing and deeply loved.

???? All kittens have been socialized with children and would do great with them, and we'd love a home with kids for them. The children should know how to handle babies with care and respect them when they want space. They are not dolls or toys.
? All kittens are good with other cats and we will require at least one adult cat in the home so they can grow up being led by another cat, something that is super important for orphans.
? All kittens are good with dogs. They may be a little hissy right at first, especially with large dogs.
?? All litter trained but are just babies so will need EASY access to the box and regular reminders from the family to go. We recommend a non scented, no dust litter! They use a large uncovered box at this time.

#ADOPTIONREQUIREMENTS:
? Stable living environment (home ownership or lengthy rental history)
???????? Would love a home with a child!
? Indoor home only
? Must have at least one cat in the home already. THIS CAT MUST BE PLAYFUL AND BE READY TO ACCEPT A NEW FRIEND.
? Must own or purchase a cat tree for maximum happiness
? We highly recommend Petsafe Cat Fountains for all cats. The kittens prefer fountains and should have one.
??? NO DECLAW POLICY ???

#MOREINFO
? Thistle is ADOPTION PENDING AND NOT PICTURED.

? Foxtail is a:
9 week old male, short hair, Lynx Point Siamese kitten. Foxtail is all boy, no fear, no reserves and no cares! Happy, vibrant and stunning. He is VERY playful. He loves to wrestle and Thatch has become quite a pal to him. Remember, two kittens are way better than one!

? Ivy is a:
9 weeks old female, medium or long hair, Dilute Torti kitten. Ivy can really hang with the boys but is definitely more sensitive and likes to snuggle. She's confident and care free and an all around great little baby girl. She loves her kitten family and wants to remind you that two kittens, are always better than one.

? Thatch is a:
6 week old male, medium hair, black kitten. Thatch goes by the surname, Fat Thatch. This kid loves to eat. He weighs more than his 9 week old friends. He is like a little bunny rabbit and had the cutest run. His hair is temporarily tinted red on the tips because he spent his first four-ish weeks outside in the sun. He is just now learning that true comfort, affection and love can come from us humans. He gets sequestered multiple times a day for one on one time with humans so he can continue to connect with us. He hadn't met a kind hand until we got him, so he is still learning and this needs to be kept up after adoption so he doesn't regress. He is very playful with other kittens.

? Too young to be spayed or neutered. They will be required to be fixed at 6 months old. Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue will pay for the spay and neuter at your vet.
?Vaccines started. Will need boostered and you are responsible for this.
?Flea/Tick/Ear Mite Free
?Tested Negative for FIV/FeLV
?Dewormed
?Micro Chipped

#HOWTOADOPT:
??? MESSAGE the Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue PAGE for our simple adoption app. Please be patient as we review applications.

?An approved adoption application needed BEFORE a meet and greet.

??We wait to weeks to finalize adoptions so the cat has time to acclimate and adjust to their new home. At the end of two weeks, we post their officially adopted story.

? Adoption fee is $100 per kitten, to help cover some of the cost of his rescue. We have a Duo Adoption Discount which is 2-for-1.

? Located in North Platte NE, but non local adoptions are possible. Must be willing to travel to meet and adopt in person if app is approved. We do not transport kittens.

? We have a NO DECLAW POLICY ?
