FOSTER NEEDED BY JUNE 7TH FOR BROTHER & SISTER, BRADY & MINKA (P.S. WE LOVE WHEN OUR FOSTERS ADOPT)'s Story
VERY URGENT & TIME SENSITIVE! NEW FOSTER HOME NEEDED FOR BROTHER & SISTER SIAMESES BRADY & MINKA! (P.S. - WE LOVE WHEN OUR FOSTER PARENTS ADOPT!)

Brady & Minka are losing their foster home - and very soon - by no fault of their own - and they need to be IN their new foster home by June 7th! Their current foster mom is dealing with a personal medical issue and she has to leave home to get care. They really need a hero right now, and hopefully an amazing person will see this and help them in their time of need.

Minka is the slightly smaller kitty with the little crumpled ear. Brady is slightly larger and has the most GORGEOUS eyes - his eyes almost look human - we have never seen a cat that has eyes like he does! Brady was named after the quarterback Tom Brady - because like his namesake, he's pretty. They are siblings that we rescued from a hoarder house in August. They are not quite ready for adoption (they still need some vetting and one more diet transition) so we are seeking a foster for them at this time. But most of our fosters adopt (though never a requirement for fostering) - we give adoption priority to our foster parents who open their hearts and homes to our animals in their time of need - the kind of selfless character we want our animals to have for always - so foster-to-adopt makes sense for us and occurs 95% of the time here (you will rarely see one of our animals up for public adoption - we love fosters. They're a natural fit of human for our special animals). So if you are interested in these two, you need to apply to foster them, they more than likely won't be available for public adoption because whoever fosters them is no doubt going to want to make them permanent members of their family!

Brady & Minka are beautiful, yes. But appearances mean nothing in terms of appropriate matches to people and homes (and to all the people that get a little nutty about "specialty" breeds...psst...we got them from a hoarder house - they aren't purebred. They're " 'Mesey" or "Siamesey" as we like to call them. We love them for the precious kitties they are, not for how they look). Minka's crumpled ear is from an ear infection that was never treated in her former life (you don't get vet care in a hoarder house). Minka is more of the wild-child of the pair. She's a little bolder and more curious in general and when we rescued them and brought them to their foster home, Brady definitely sought Minka out for comfort and security, and we know he will again when we transition them to their new foster home. Brady is cross-eyed most of the time (a common characteristic of the Siamese gene) which makes him look extra sweet. Sometimes it causes him to not be able to follow a wand toy efficiently which is so adorable. But watch out when he has his little ball toy - he's a pro! Its everything watching them play with toys in their current foster home because toys weren't something they had in the hoarder house or room to play freely just trying to navigate through paths created by junk and garbage stacked high.

These kitties LOVE attention! They will stare at their foster mom as if to say, "Look at us! Give us love!" and will do it until said affection is given. Speaking of which, their new foster must love crime dramas (just kidding) - but it is a nightly ritual for them to sit on the couch with their foster mom when she gets back from work and cuddle and sit on her lap or curled up next to her and watch Law & Order or Criminal Minds together (but choose your favorite genre of TV or movie - we're sure Brady and Minka won't mind). They do like sitting on laps (or touching you if your lap is occupied by the other sibling). Minka loves to be held and will lick your face to show her love for you! We hope you like a furry little muffin to sleep with you at night. Brady will be sleeping on your pillow above your head. Minka is a little bit more independent and prefers to get her beauty sleep in a bed placed on top of her cat tree.

The kitties are 11 years old, but trust and believe, these aren't seniors that just nap 24/7 - that's actually abnormal. Like all of our animals, Brady and Minka are fed biologically appropriate raw food that their bodies can use for vitality and energy, so they are running around, chasing each other, playing, getting the zoomies - not sluggish like animals that eat processed foods that slow them down. (Not to mention their coats are AMAZING from the raw diet!) So their foster must love engaging them in interactive play, not just snuggles.

They love all their cardboard scratchers and even have one that also doubles as a little play house that they will nap in. Speaking of napping, when their human isn't home to cuddle with, they will be in one of their many cat beds. Somedays Brady might be in his wool cave bed (Minka sleeps on top of this one - she marches to the beat of her own drum, that girl). Or in their calming bed on colder days. Not knowing what size they were when we first got them, we gave them a little donut bed and they are too big for it, but its one of Brady's favorites and he will still squeeze himself into it.

These kitties have been through a lot in life - what most of us humans couldn't have survived for 10 years. We made the correct placement in their current foster home and they blossomed - so we are going to seek the same type of home so that continues for them - they deserve that.

Brady & Minka are in need of a quiet, tranquil, low-key foster home, preferably adult-only (though an older, well-mannered, late high-school years child in the home may be okay - but not young kids) with people who describe themselves as their home and enjoy a quiet lifestyle and mellow existence. Brady & Minka do not like loud noises, and they do not like chaos. That was their old life, and it is not part of their current life, nor will it be a part of their future. They don't like a lot of people in their home either. They are velcro to the person they know (their foster mom) but are slow to warm up and shy around others, so again, someone that has a quiet, laid-back home is key to their well-being.

There should be no dogs in their foster home, and honestly, their foster doesn't think they would do well with another cat. They are the only animals in their home and that's what we all think is best for them because they have flourished as such.

All of Milwaukee Pets Alive's foster homes must be in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Kenosha, Racine, and Ozaukee counties - and so must Brady & Minka's. We work closely with our foster families we must be able to easily access them and our animals, and our animals must have easy access to our veterinary partners central to these counties.

All of our foster parents must be able to commit to their foster animal for as long as their foster animal needs them. As a special needs and considerations rescue, our foster placements are longer term. Many of our foster parents develop a very close bond with their foster animal as they help them with their needs and considerations to be the kitties they were always meant to be so it's no surprise, many of our foster parents adopt their foster animal. While it's definitely not a requirement to foster, we have an extremely high foster-to-adopt rate for the aforementioned reason. We dare you not to fall in love with Brady & Minka and want to make her a permanent member of your family.

Do you have what Minka & Brady need? IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FOSTERING THEM, YOU MUST COMPLETE AND RETURN OUR FOSTER APPLICATION FOUND AT www.milwaukeepetsalive.org/foster ***Because time is of the essence, DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR FOSTER APPLICATION VIA POSTAL MAIL - there isn't enough time - we pick up mail at the post office very infrequently - RETURN YOUR FOSTER APPLICATION EITHER BY SCANNING AND EMAILING IT BACK, OR BY FAXING IT. We cannot consider you for fostering without a completed foster application. We will not entertain inquiries coming in through the short Petfinder form (and if you fill it out, we will know you did not read this profile all the way through). You must follow the aforementioned instructions and foster application process.

Help some precious lives in need. It will be the best thing you ever do with yours.

If you have any questions about fostering in general or Brady & Minka specifically, you MUST email foster@milwaukeepetsalive.org (again, we will not accept inquiries or questions coming in through the Petfinder form. Follow directions, please).

Milwaukee Pets Alive is an all-volunteer, No Kill, special needs and considerations rescue that focuses on saving those local animals in Southeast Wisconsin that have been passed over by, would not be accepted into, or would be killed by other rescues and shelters because of their needs and considerations and would have no other option for life except for through our organization. These animals may be shy, scared, under-socialized, injured, aged, differently-abled, have medical needs, or need extra resources - all deserve the chance to be loved and cherished. And all deserve time, understanding, patience, and good, comprehensive veterinary care to help them get happy, healthy, and reach their highest potential. Their lives are important.

Our mission, through our work aforementioned, and through comprehensive programs and resources to educate and help community members help the animals in their own lives (thereby preventing more animals from entering the shelter system), is to end the killing of homeless companion animals in Southeast WI. The population we rescue comprises those that continue to die in the greatest numbers in our community.

Our vision is for Southeast WI to be one of the safest communities in the United States for companion animals.

We couldn't help these special animals of our community that we do without the wonderful people who foster them!
