FOMO, the purry head-bonker you really need to get off your chest's Story

Got someone on your chest you need to get off? No? Then it's a
sure thing you're not living with FOMO, the undeniably overweight armful
of loving tuxedo. Please read about him below and if you like what you read, send your answers to the questions listed below to philoctete@mailbug.com (please send them in the body of your email and not as an attachment - thanks!) and you will receive a prompt reply. Honestly! (He is still looking for a loving home if you are reading this post.)

He's a feline penguin you can't help loving back, especially (oof) when he does that very special thing of planting himself on your chest, with a paw on each side of your neck, gazing with admiration into your perhaps
less-than-admirable face. That's the best place from which to give you his emphatic (but not painful) head-butt, a sign of affection you will welcome except when you are trying to sleep (that is a point against him -
his bedtime head-butting). He is so happy on your chest like that - it's a cozy moment you won't want to end.

More conventionally, perhaps, he will also sit on your lap and that's
oh-so-comforting too - for both of you! He is a wonderfully consoling greeter when you come home (or come into a room he is in); you will always get a physical and several vocal greetings from him. Please note, though, that he is not
a Velcro cat and sometimes he chooses to show his love for you by sitting at the bottom of your bed, his back turned towards you, or sitting on the
back on a sofa you're sitting on, just behind your head. He's not always right on top of you, but, given his avoirdupois, that's not always a bad thing. Some cats get a lot of comfort from being *near* you, from being in the same room as you, without necessarily needing to be touching (although, if they are like FOMO, they like to make frequent brief purry head-bonk visits to your chest and face.)

I once read in a book that the author used to praise his wife by calling her a "cheerful little armful". FOMO makes me thinks of that phrase - when you hug him and hold him close to you, he really fills your arms.

One thing you'll looove about him if you like to bond with your kitty (and sometimes secretly wish a cat would have amusing doggie behaviors) is that he loves to play fetch with you. He asks you again and again (like, he can do this 1 or 2 dozen times in a row) to throw his mousey or fishy toy so he can scamper after it and bring it back to you in his mouth, his tail held high, and proudly drop it in your lap or at your feet. Besides that game (which he loves), FOMO likes swatting around at a fabric wand toy, but in general his person/physical trainer is going to have a challenge keeping him active, because his nature is to be sedate (except for taking ineffectual runs and leaps at a window screen when a bird flits outside it) and he'd rather sit around than run around. His extra weight is probably somewhat uncomfortable for him. He has a gentle, almost babyish me(o)w he primarily uses when seeking reassurance from you (his greeting meow is more forceful, excited).

This kitty (four years of age as of Autumn 2026) is fastidious about his litterbox (but he'll absolutely forgive you if you don't clean it out for a few days), but he can be a bit messy about litter if you use too shallow a litterbox. I don't know whether you'll consider it a positive or a negative thing about him, but as soon as he sees you are scooping out litter from his litterbox or sweeping up around it, he'll come and "help" you, rubbing up against your butt, meowing for attention, and bonking his head into your arm. Never fails! That is how he got the name FOMO - he just can't bear not to be in on this!

FOMO is not destructive, unless you have a wonky heating vent (he lives to pick off insecure vent grates and crawl behind them when he hears a strange person is in the home - if you don't have a floor heating vent he can get under but do have a rug, he'll hide under the rug, makibg a big lump so you know exactly where he is). The most important drawback to be aware of is that being self-conscious and lacking confidence, he can feel very intimidated by certain other kitties (he's not just being an aggressive jerk - he feels vulnerable), but not others. He'll be very companionable and chill with some kitties, and still other cats he will growl or even swat at. I am afraid I can't predict, if you already have a feline residing in your home, whether he'll be that kitty's pal & ally, or victim, or bully.

Additionally, he'll be shy in a new environment at first - not up-the-walls skittish, but definitely hide-under-the-bed in a sort of gentle, friendly, coaxable way. A person looking to bond immediately would, I think, be
disappointed; he'll show his sweet side right away, but it may take as long as a week for him to stop hiding himself!

If you feel you could take a chance on a trial adoption, because you've decided that you need more big vibrating hugs in your life, please send in your answers to the questions below. If you sound like a great match, you'll be given references to check for Affectionate Adoptions and will be asked for a reference in return.

If you are seeing this listing for him, he is still in need of a home! We will reply promptly to everyone who writes in with their answers to the questions. If we feel that you & this kitty sound like a great match, we will endeavor to get back to you right away to exchange references and to work out his trip to you. Thank you so much for your time!

Here are the questions we'd like you to answer, please:

1. Can you share your views about feline nutrition and diet, as follows? Would you consider feeding this kitty dry food? If so, what brands and if not, why not? Would you consider feeding this kitty canned food? If so, what brands and if not, why not? Would you consider feeding this kitty raw food (either bought from a store or homemade) and if not, why not? Also, what kind of water would you offer this kitty and what brand of litter would you use in your litterbox? Thanks!

2. What are your views, pro or con, on declawing?

3. What sort of domicile do you live in (house, rented apartment, trailer, etc.) and who (please mention any and all humans and non-humans) lives there with you, please?

4. What are your views, pro or con, on neutering/spaying?

5. Under what circumstances would you consider parting with a kitty you'd adopted? (We are 100% no-kill and would want to take back, at any time and for any reason, anyone you adopted from us if you wanted to part company with him or her.)

6. It can be very helpful, in determining whether Kitty and Human would make a good match, to have some information about the person, so if you could say something about your interests/hobbies/lifestyle/leisure pursuits, that would be great. Please also give a little information about your job/profession/source of income. Lastly, if there's anything you want to say about volunteer work you've done caregiving to non-humans (say, at a shelter or sanctuary) or about previous experiences you have had caring for your own or for others' (say, as a cat-sitter or dog-walker), that's helpful too!

7. Would Largely be, if you adopted him, an indoor/outdoor kitty, an indoor only kitty, or an outdoor kitty?

8. Finally [Optional], if there is anything about this particular kitty's looks as shown in the photos, or personality as written about in the post, that particularly calls to you or speaks to you or appeals to you, please could you share that? Thank you so much! :)
