Meet Floh

Floh has been through so, so much and she is finally ready for her furever home! This little girl came to us back in September as a feral with the worst flea infestation and respiratory infection we have ever seen. Thanks to her foster and our partner vets, she is now healthy again and a complete lovebug! Floh just wants to be with you all day, headbutting and purring away. Due to her feral upbringing, she does have certain thresholds you must respect, otherwise risk getting swat at. For example, she will get overstimulated and scratch you if you pet her too long, especially near her tail. She has gotten thousands times better about NOT batting at her humans, but she still gets startled sometimes and needs a few seconds to recollect herself. Because of this, we would like her to go to an experienced home that can read her signs and know when she's about to reach her threshold). As long as you give her her space and take it slow, she will be your loyal companion.

If you meet Floh, you may notice some raspy breathing. She has gotten numerous tests done and the veterinarians have decided it is either a mild case of asthma, or some residual effects from her severe respiratory infection. They did not see any polyps that could be causing it, and she has no discharge to indicate a respiratory infection. She has also had weeks of antibiotics and antivirals, and neither have helped with this residual rasping. Regardless, it does not seem to bother her, but you may hear her hack/cough/wheeze once in a while. Each episode lasts for only seconds, so she is not on an inhaler or any medications for it.

Floh gets along great with other cats, but is iffy with dogs. We have not children-tested her, but suspect she would prefer a quieter home due to her persisting skittishness. Her condition does not appear contagious to other cats (she had been housed with other kittens once her active URI had resolved, and they have all been okay), but we can make no guarantee of this.

Floh is now flea free, dewormed, FeLV/FIV negative, rabies and FVRCP vaccinated and up to date until late this year, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $200.
