For Every Living Thing in Virginia (FELT)'s Adoption Policy
Adopters must: • Provide inside only homes, with the exception of barn cat placements and special situations where a cat has a behavioral or medical issue that requires outdoor living. • Have another young dog, cat, or rabbit living in the home if adopting a young kitten or puppy. • Be over the age of 18 and have permission from the person who owns the residence. • Not have a history of animal abuse or neglect. • Have had all current dogs and cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated unless there is a medical reason. • Have everyone living in the home agree to adopting a new pet. • Have permission from the homeowner, landlord, etc. to adopt the pet. • Provide a reference and have an established veterinarian for any current pets. Any exceptions to the conditions provided above require approval of the Executive Director or the Board.
