Feta's Story

This very handsome boy with the striking blue peepers is Feta from our Greek foods litter. He catches everyone's eye and gets the most attention of all of the kittens in his litter. However, this guy is not for the faint of heart. He is trouble, looking for a place to happen. His new family will need to be cat experienced and up for the challenge!

Feta was born in one of our foster homes and has been handled since he was tiny. He's very friendly and loves attention, but he's also very active. He is never sitting still and he loves to climb and to chew. He will happily use your leg as a climbing post and loves to chew on toes. If you have curtains, he sees a climbing gym. If you have plants, he sees a snack. If you have a couch, he sees a zoomie track. Whomever adopts Feta will need to ensure that their home is very well kitten-proofed and that they have the knowledge to be able to provide suitable outlets for Feta's energy.

This guy is far too busy to be a lap cat. He is always on the go doing something. The only time he ever sits still is when he's in front of the food dish. He is always the first one there when the canned food comes out (although he is free fed with kibble and is able to mange his portions.)

Thus far, Feta has no experience with dogs, although he may learn to live with one if introduced properly. Since he likes to use his mouth a lot to interact with his environment, he will not be the right fit for a family with young children. Feta's ideal home will be an active one with people who can keep up with him.

It will be important for Feta to have a feline friend of his own. If his family already has a cat, he will do well with one that likes to run around and play. He will be too much for a quiet or senior cat. A buddy that he can run around with and have races with, will be right up his alley. If his new family doesn't already have another cat, Feta would be happy to be adopted with one of his siblings. He gets along very well with Tiri and Filo but can sometimes be a bit much for Ouzo and Pita.

Although Feta looks like a Siamese cat, we do not have much history about his genetics. All of the other cats in the home that Feta came from were black. Although Feta's mom is very petite, Feta is a hefty boy and will likely be a very solid adult cat. He does have some personality traits of a Siamese cat but we are listing him as a seal point domestic shorthair because we are not specifically aware of any Siamese in his genetics.

If you'd like to apply to adopt Feta and/or his siblings, please visit https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/ for a copy of our online adoption application and for information regarding our adoption process and fees. Please note that Feta and his siblings will only be adopted in the Greater Victoria area (Saanich Peninsula and south of the Malahat.)

Victoria Pet Adoption Society's Adoption Policy
Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and a big responsibility. Dogs can live 15 years or more, and cats can live 20+ years. Like people, each individual pet comes with its own set of baggage, needs, and personality traits. Because your new pet will depend on you to provide its basic needs, we need to be sure that you are educated and up to the challenge. Our adoption process allows us to ask you some questions about your home environment, your lifestyle, and your needs, expectations, and limitations. We want to be sure that your new pet is going to be just as happy in its new home as you are to have it there. A Successful Adoption Process Includes the Following Steps: To start the adoption process, please complete the online adoption application found at https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/. If our adoption team feels as though your home will be a great fit for one of our pets they will contact you to set up a visit supervised by the foster parent who can answer some of the questions you may have about the animal of interest. You will not be able to take the pet home the day of the visit. One of our volunteers will contact you after the visit and will open a dialogue with you based on the information provided in your application. We will talk about your home and family, as well as your experience with pets. We will ask you to tell us about the kind of life and care you can offer to the adopted pet, and we will inform you about any health or behavioural issues that you should be aware of. (For dogs only) Once an adoption is pending, we will come visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for the pet in question, based on its needs. We can advise you of modifications that could make the adoption more successful, such as fencing and other things you may not have thought about. The adoption process generally takes several days, and this time line is intentional. It allows you time to think about your decision so that you can be sure that you are comfortable with the decision that you’ve made. Adoptions are never approved within 48 hours of the application being submitted. Once we have successfully journeyed through the steps above, you can pick up your new friend to begin a wonderful life together! Signing an adoption contract is a requirement for every pet that is adopted. Adoption Fees are as Follows: Kittens (up to 12 months of age) $400 Adult Cats (1 yr - 8yrs) $300 Senior Cats (9 yrs and older) $250 Special Needs Cats (other than kittens) $250 Puppies (up to 12 months of age) $600 Adult Dogs (1 yr - 8yrs) $400 Senior Dogs (9 yrs and older) $300 Special Needs dogs (other than puppies) $300 Rabbits $50 Guinea Pigs $30 Rats/hamsters $20 Mice $10 Adoption fees for other species may vary
