Fern's Story
Please read through the entire posting and requirements before applying via our questionnaire at https://alleycatproject.org/adopt
Please do not submit an inquiry via Petfinder.

Meet Fern, a curious and loving kitty! She is approximately 5 years old.

Fern is a torbie (tortoiseshell and tabby patterned) girl with lovely, soft fur. She is a former stray who lived a tough life outside and now loves being an indoor cat. She is a very healthy, happy girl with just one quirk, she is FIV+ This just means that her immune system will require more care and monitoring. With a good diet, a stress-free indoor life, and regular vet check-ups, she can live a fully normal and wonderful life.

Fern loves to follow you around and see what youre doing. She loves to make small conversations with her small meows and loves to sit next to you. She has discovered that she adores being petted and enjoys those good chin scratchies. She will often show her cute signature move, the flop and belly roll. Another sweet thing she does, her tail quivers with excitement when she sees you or when it is food time. She loves to play with string toys and take naps in sunny spots. She is shy at first but will open up once she gets comfortable. She would do great as a single kitty or with other cats if introduced slowly. She would get along with older children that can respect her space.

Fern would do well as a single kitty or in a home with other cats. She is very curious with other cats and can live with other FIV+ kitties or non-positive kitties as long as everyone gets along (since it is spread through deep serious bite wounds, not by sharing bowls or grooming.)

What Fern is looking for in a home:

- She is new to indoor life with humans, so she needs a kind and patient guide to help him/her continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers make her nervous.
- She has no known history with other cats
- She has no known history with dogs
- She has no known history with children
- She would feel at ease in a quiet or calm environment
- She needs to live indoors only

All Alley Cat Projects cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Alley Cat Project adoption fees are:

-$200 per cat or kitten
-$350 for a pair of cats or kittens
-$50 for senior cat (over 8 years old)
- Flexible reduced fees for a cat with a chronic medical condition that requires ongoing care
-Additional charitable donations are appreciated and support our overall rescue efforts.

Thank you for your interest in adopting Fern! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt Fern by filling out this questionnaire: https://alleycatproject.org/adopt

Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Please do not submit an inquiry through Petfinder, as it will not replace the questionnaire. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match.

Please do not follow up on your application by phone or email as this will not expedite a response. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we appreciate your understanding.
