FatBoy's Story

***Sharonville Location *** FatBoy was surrendered in late 2024 by the daughter of a man who needed to enter a treatment facility and could no longer care for him. He is believed to be approximately 5 years old. Fat Boy is chatty, cuddly and affectionate, and will seek out attention. He has picked up weight at the shelter and could benefit from a reduced calorie diet. Volunteers love him and will spend time in room 1 just to play with him. We believe he will be a great companion for someone as he wants affection. Seems to be okay with the lively shelter dog who roams in the back and had no trouble acclimating to the other cats in the room. Come check out this big goof ball and see if he might be the right fit for your family! 5/4/25 Edit: FatBoy is currently receiving some heart medication to aid in a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This is a treatable condition and he can live a normal life, just has to have his meds. And he wants you to know he takes his meds like a champ! Adoptions by appointment only. Adoption fee is $100 per cat FIV/FeLV negative *Must be 21 or older to adopt. **Our shelter has a policy to only adopt within a 50 mile radius so that if problems arise, the pet can easily be returned to the shelter.

HEARTT Animal Refuge's Adoption Policy

All adoptions are by appointment only. We have two locations, Sharonville and Bridgetown, so please clarify who you would like to meet so we can set up the appointment at the correct location. Our adoption fee for both dogs and cats is $100 per animal. We have a policy to only adopt to individuals age 21 or older. Additionally, we only adopt within a 50 mile radius so that if problems arise, the pet can easily be returned to the shelter. All animals are spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption. We also give flea and dewormer treatments. Dogs are tested for Heartworm and cats are quarantined for 8 weeks prior to FIV/FeLV testing. Consider a "Senior" pet.....they really need love and a home to call their own in their senior years. We have a few beautiful kittens and many adult cats that are looking for you. HEARTT Animal Refuge was founded in 2007 by Sylvia Johanning, who had a passion for rescue since she was a child. She had worked in several shelters and decided she wanted to make a difference in Sharonville.
