Fairium's Story

Hello! My name is Fairium. I'm a beautiful gray domestic medium hair with piercing jade eyes, and the most charming fur tufts in my ears and toes. I'm around two years old despite my petit size. I was living the street life with two other kitties in Colorado Springs when a good Samaritan noticed we were all pregnant and needing a safe place to have our babies. I was brought into foster with Wild Blue, but sadly I still lost my four babies. My Wild Blue friends made sure I stayed healthy after that, and patiently waited to see if I would warm up to life indoors. Life has taught me to be cautious, so it has taken me months of gentle coaxing to open my heart to humans. Now I'm talking to, playing with and even cuddling with my foster family. I still have a ways to go, but they all agree that my natural sweetness is worth the extra time and effort.
My past is hard to shake, so I am extremely shy with new people and animals. I was able to survive as long as I did, because I'm nervous of loud noises and fast movements. These factors mean I must go to a forever home that is calm, quiet and willing to meet me where I'm at. No dogs or young children please - not even the gentle ones. I do enjoy the company of some other cats, as long as they are calm and friendly. I like to sit in the same cat tree as my foster siblings. I will warm up to adults and older kids who respect my space and approach me slowly. Small spaces, like a single bedroom make me feel safe enough for introductions, and if you offer to play with a ribbon wand or feathery toy before trying to pet me I'm more likely to decide you're a friend. Even now big spaces make me nervous, but my fosters say that I'm steadily growing in confidence. I've started seeking them out for playtime and snuggles in the bedrooms and kitten room. I do occasionally get overexcited with play and pets, and give "love bites", though I'm getting better at expressing my joy with purrs and licks. My fosters recommend that my new family either have some experience reading cat body language, or thick skin and patience.
I am a world class "biscuit maker". I am fully litterbox trained, enjoy being brushed and get very talkative at meal times. As my confidence grows I've become more food assertive. I will help myself to my bowl and then anyone else's. I'm starting to accept claw trimming. I love sitting in a sunny window to chitter at birds, and chasing toys underneath a blanket or rug. I like flat scratchers best but a post is good too. I sometimes get drooly when I'm getting pets. I've been spayed and vaccinated and overall have a clean bill of health from the vet. The only health issue my new family needs to help me with is some dental. "Street food and hygiene" have left me with gingivitis. I eat well and am not in pain, but I have some serious bad breath and will need regular dental care to keep the rest of me healthy.
If you're the type who can recognize a diamond in the rough and you're willing to give me a loving place to shine, then please fill out an application online. I'd love to meet you in my foster home to see if we can be a forever family.
