Meet Espresso!

Espresso is a curious, sensitive, shy, and easygoing dilute tortie kitten. She is about five months old.

Alley Cat Project rescued Espresso and her siblings from a local Seattle park when they were about ten weeks old. Since then, she has been living in foster care and learning to trust humans and “how to cat” from her resident cat siblings.

Espresso is thriving as an indoor-only cat who enjoys a predictable everyday routine. When it is time to eat, she will definitely let you know with loud meows and running paws to the kitchen. During the day she enjoys observing what her foster mom is up too, sleeping in the heated cat bed, playing with toys and watching "cat TV" on top of the cat tree.

Espresso is a shy kitten who lacks confidence. Being held and pet can still make her nervous. She is working on building her confidence and tolerance of physical affection through play and with treats. It is important that her adopter take time each day to work with her, even if it's just a few minutes. When playing solo or with the other cats she enjoys catnip mice, the crinkle tunnel, the push ball center and the SmartyKat "Hot pursuit" toy. When working with her foster mom she enjoys the laser pointer and "da bird" string toy with all the attachments. Espresso is very food motivated and loves all treats. Her most favorite is the Inaba Churu tube treats. She is much more likely to accept affection after a good play session and some treats.

Above all, Espresso needs to feel safe and secure before getting attention and while being petted and held. Watching her body language is key and she will let when she is ready for a break.

Espresso is sure to thrive and become the confident cat she wants to be with a patient, loving, adopter who will give her the time to open up and adjust, has a calm household, and an existing confident resident cat. She will do best with no young children or dogs.
