Erend's Story

Aloy and Erend are a bonded pair that were saved as kittens that were born into a street colony of cats. They were rescued right at the tail end of their socialization window as kittens, and because of that, they will require a patient and cat-savvy adopter! Erend is a very sweet boy that allows pets (sometimes), but will always allow pets when Churu treats are involved! Erend's sister, Aloy, will sit on your legs for Churu treats, but is still fearful of pets and too much human interaction. They both do love to cuddle in the human bed for bedtime, though!

Both kitties are completely non-aggressive. They will choose "flight" over "fight" every time unless cornered. Aloy will panic attack you if she feels trapped, so we recommend giving her plenty of space and multiple obvious escape routes. Unfortunately they are still both otherwise very skittish and shy when it comes to humans. It's way better to let them approach you rather than trying to approach them, and if you do need to approach them, it's done very slowly (and the lower to the ground, the better). Even with a slow approach, they will often (Aloy always) err on the side of caution and move away, although usually it's just a few feet at a slow trot rather than bolting as fast as possible to the farthest away hiding spot they can find. They would probably do better with 1-2 other (younger-ish) cats that they can continue to learn behaviors from.

One thing is for sure, they do absolutely have to be adopted together. They still prefer the company of each other to any other cats they have befriended. For Erend and Aloy's future adopter, we are looking for someone quite experienced with cats and very patient, with the understanding and expectations that these babies still need to be worked with and for likely a long time to come.
