Emily's Story

Emily is a beautiful tabby girl with a quiet spirit and a tender heart. She arrived at our shelter in mid-April through a local grassroots rescue after a heartbreaking ordeal. Emily and her siblings, Buddy and Elizabeth, were abandoned when their owners moved away and left them behind to fend for themselves.

Of the trio, Emily is the most timid and sensitive. Losing her home and suddenly finding herself in a busy, unfamiliar shelter environment has understandably been overwhelming for her. Because of this, we believe we've only seen small glimpses of who Emily truly is. We are hopeful that once she is in a calm, loving home away from the noise and activity of the shelter, she will slowly let her guard down and reveal her true personality.

One thing that has helped Emily tremendously is the unwavering support of being with other cats. Emily finds comfort, confidence and reassurance simply by being near them. Emily is currently staying in one of our cage-free "free roam" rooms with a couple of other shelter cats. Due to her quiet nature and the fact that she finds comfort being in the company of other cat pals, she either needs to be adopted along with another cat or adopted into a home that already has a cat in the home.

Emily may not be the cat who immediately rushes up for attention, but patient adopters willing to give her time and understanding will likely discover a sweet and loving companion hidden beneath her cautious exterior.

The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
