Emily has a devastating story. She was living peacefully with her small colony in a rural county in Georgia when a cruel neighbor started shooting them. Her bonded littermate was shot and killed, likely in front of her, as she came to us with a burn on her nose from a bullet graze.

She is a young girl, maybe about 1-2 years old, and she probably would have preferred to live out a quiet outdoor life because she is unaccustomed to humans and the indoors. But we obviously couldn't just spay her and return her to that terrible place, and although she hides in her foster home and is very scared, she's not mean - she's never hissed, swatted, or tried to bite...the poor thing just hides.

Emily did arrive with another member of the colony, a beautiful fluffy girl we call Charlotte (https://www.petfinder.com/cat/charlotte-48547600/ga/atlanta/meow-or-never-inc-ga915/), who is a little more interested in people. Charlotte can be petted and loves to play, so we are hoping by keeping these two girls together, Charlotte can help Emily come out of her shell and also provide her feline company.

Emily needs a patient, quiet home, preferably with someone who's had experience with semi-feral cats before. Because she isn't defensive or mean, we think she has a chance to come around, but will need a lot of time and the understanding that she may never really be a social, affectionate house cat. She would probably love a catio or screened porch.

Will you give this sad girl a chance at a happy life after all she's been through? She really just needs a safe place, food, and a clean litter box. (She has used the litter box with zero accidents, knock on wood!!)
