Elvis (FeLV Positive)

You would never know from Elviss sweet demeanor that he was trapped during a TNR mission and found to have severe injuries, the underside of his body was heavily sliced from being attacked by an animal. Elvis had previously been neutered and released by another trapper but while he was inside recovering from his injuries, he showed us how sweet and friendly he really is. We knew we couldnt release him back out, he deserved a chance at an indoor home. But then, we found out that he tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and that cemented our decision to keep him until we could find a loving adopter. <br/><br/>Elvis is a purr machine who loves having his chin scratched and taking naps in a warm lap. He trills and meows for attention, and will follow you around all day long because he loves you so much. He has been waiting for a home and yearns to play with human and/or furry friends. He is the perfect boy and you really couldnt ask for a better cat. <br/><br/>Elvis is positive for FeLV, a virus that weakens the immune system. It is contagious to other cats and is transmitted through prolonged contact with saliva, bodily fluids, or urine/feces. However, it is not a death sentence and will not shorten Elviss lifespan if he is in a stress-free home and receives routine vet care like any other cat. He has been seen by a vet and is in great health with no signs of progression. Elvis will need a home where he is either the only cat, living with other FeLV+ cats or negative cats that are vaccinated for FeLV, or with dogs as this virus is feline specific. He is not pushy with other cats and does not tend to groom them, so he could live with a FeLV negative cat if water/food bowls and litter boxes are monitored. <br/><br/>Elvis is a 3 year old male (as of 5/15/2026), neutered, up to date on vaccines, dewormed and flea/tick treated, FIV negative, and FeLV positive.
