Elmer-LAP CAT! FIV+'s Story
Elmer will be attending an ADOPTION EVENT this Sunday, December 7, from 1-3 pm on the North Shore Animal League bus parked in front of Petco at 188 Kitts Lane in Newington, CT. Please stop by and meet him!

If you would like an application or have any questions, please send an email to us at:
info@ht-ac.org

Elmer was rescued as a stray in Southington, and is currently in a foster home in Berlin with other cats. He is an extremely friendly, affectionate lap cat who LOVES attention! He gets along well with submissive female cats. He appears to have food sensitivities, and eats Hound & Gatos canned food. He is 2 years old, and has been neutered, vaccinated for rabies & distemper, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV. Unfortunately, he has tested positive for FIV. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives, and we hope that this will be the case for Elmer. FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or any animals other than cats. FIV cannot be transmitted to other cats through casual contact, such as sharing food & water bowls, litter boxes, mutual grooming, etc. When cats are neutered, FIV is typically only transmitted through deep bite wounds, and cats that are compatible typically do not bite each other hard enough to draw blood. If you have any questions about FIV, please send an email, and we will be happy to answer them. Elmer's adoption fee is $200.
