Elcor's Story
My Friends at Wayside say:
-I’m shy at first but very playful!
-I enjoy mentally stimulating activities
-I’m a graduate of Wayside’s TABBY program
-I love treats of ALL kinds!
-I enjoy watching videos
-I enjoy being independent

My home preferences (Restrictions):
-I would like a quiet home environment
-I will need extra time to warm up in a home
-Children in the home must be 6 and older
-Recommend another confident cat in the home
-I will need a cat savvy adopter

*special note: This cat is from a hoarding situation. They will likely need time to adjust to home life. They have lived with many other cats but may have not experienced socialization with people and things like petting and large open spaces are overwhelming for them. Adopters should be willing to be patient during this process. Sequestering a cat in one small room for 2-4 weeks can be very helpful and gives the cat a safe place to call their own. It is important to let them go at their own pace with building a relationship with their new family and limiting lots of commotion and visitors in the beginning is wise. They may have not experienced life outside of the hoarding situation, so things could be overwhelming for them at first. Patience and positive interactions are crucial. Aversive methods of training should be avoided. Using treats, play and enrichment to build trust and teach new things is the way to go! All cats are of course unique and the time in which they each warm up to people and places is just as unique as they are.

Hi there, I’m Elcor!

I’m a 5-year-old buff lady with the cutest ears around... seriously! They’re pretty unforgettable. My friends here say they give me a one-of-a-kind look, and I have to agree!

I can be a shy girl at first, but once I start feeling comfortable, my playful side really shines. I love enrichment activities that keep my brain busy, watching fun videos, and snacking on treats of any kind. Seriously... if you have treats, we’re already off to a great start. I’m also a proud graduate of Wayside’s TABBY (To Achieve Best Behavior Yet) program, and I’ve been working hard on building my confidence!

I’m the kind of cat who enjoys affection on my own terms and likes having my independence respected. A quiet home where I can settle in at my own pace would help me feel safe and comfortable. I may take some time to warm up, but patient, cat-savvy adopters will get to see just how special I am. I’d also likely enjoy having another confident cat around to help show me the ropes and make me feel more secure.

If you’re looking for a sweet, quirky buff gal with adorable ears, a playful spirit, and lots of potential, I just might be your purrfect match.

Love, Elcor
