Egret's Story

Meet Egret

Egret is, lovingly, a bit of a hot mess express-but truly one of the sweetest cats you'll ever meet. She came to us from a large hoarding situation in Central Falls last November, where nearly 40 cats were rescued from a single apartment. Despite everything she's been through, Egret has held onto an incredible love for people. She is a total social butterfly who seeks out attention and thrives on human connection-there is nothing she enjoys more than being right by your side.

Egret's medical journey has been a complicated one. Upon arriving in our care, our animal care team noted excessive urination which was later identified a persistent urinary tract infection that proved difficult to treat due to evolving antibiotic resistance. Further diagnostics revealed underlying kidney disease, along with structural changes consistent with chronic renal issues. At this time, Egret is considered a hospice placement. She is currently comfortable and not showing active symptoms, but her condition is expected to progress.

What truly makes Egret special is her spirit. She would make an incredible education or companion cat for someone in the animal care field or a home prepared to provide hospice support. She is the definition of a perfect patient-through countless procedures, including bloodwork and urine sampling, she remains calm, affectionate, and endlessly forgiving. She purrs, makes biscuits, and soaks up attention... even in the most uncomfortable moments. It's honestly remarkable.

Egret is looking for a very special home-one that understands her medical needs but is ready to give her the love, comfort, and dignity she deserves for whatever time she has. In return, she'll give you unwavering affection and a bond that is truly one of a kind.

With questions about Egret, or any of our other adoptable cats, please email cats@rispca.org
