EGGNOG's Story

MEET EGGNOG! *Tiny Tiger alert! Looking for someoneto brighten your winter days? Eggnog would be a good choice! Eggnog is one of our beloved tiny tigers, who has been undergoing taming in our Dedham managers' office. Like a lot of fearful kittens, he requires a slow, hands-off approach until you earn his trust. Eggnog has made progress since he's been here and she is learning to trust people and accept pets. If you have the patience and interest in adopting a kitten with whom you can bond as he learns that you are his new best friend, ask to spend some time with Eggnog! WHAT TO EXPECT *Hiding-for the best transition, we highly recommend confining your new kitten to crate in an active part of the home where they can learn about their new surroundings but still feel secure in the crate, without your having to worry about “losing them” in your home. We would be happy to send you home with a loaner crate, at no charge *a potential backslide in behavior. Transition is scary. Just as this kitten was starting to feel comfortable in the shelter, they are adopted and come to your home. Be patient while they learn the new patterns, sounds and smells of your home. *Hands-on work from you-Find a wet food that your kitty loves and while they are eating, pet them all over. If petting is too scary, feed them by hand first, so they quickly learn that hands are not a scary thing. Pairing yummy food with handling is the quickest way to teach an under-socialized kitten that petting is a good thing and it can really get that purr engine running! Eggnog is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on this or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY, however, we will be unable to facilitate same day out of state adoptions due to regulated paperwork requirements.
