Duncan Bunz's Story

Duncan Bunz
DOB: 3/16/2025
Adoption Fee: $275

A LapCats foster responded to a Facebook plea for help of a friendly cat left in a levy at a shopping center and quickly discovered that this was the case of a momma cat and kittens. After talking with several people, it was discovered that Anastasia was left behind by a homeless person, as well as another cat, who was not able to be located. The family was being fed by lots of folks from the shopping center, but no one was stepping up to rescue them.

Momma cat was easily secured in a carrier and two kittens needed to be persuaded into traps with some tasty snacks. Signs were left stating “Do not feed, water only, we will be trapping until every kitten is secured” and also notified the locals that in order to successfully trap – to NOT leave food. The next morning an itty bitty box was left that read “We trapped the kittens for you.” Someone had made makeshift “traps” with two tiny toy kittens with water bowls underneath. What a jokester! There were originally 5-6 kittens, sadly we only got a bird’s eye view of three.

After two and a half weeks of setting traps and drops traps, in the evenings and wee hours of the morning and literally camping out next to Hot Bunz Burgers, we would finally prevail. Although the typical trapping method was not used to finally secure Duncan, too much time had passed and this little one needed to be secured asap to have a chance at a better life. Duncan was trapped using a fish net, yes a fish net!

Duncan was the first kittens to be adopted. At first all seemed to go well and the resident cats were adapting to the new comer. Sadly, after six months, one of the resident cats was no longer happy and acting out. The adopters did the right thing by contacting LapCats and returning Duncan. Since returning, he has proven that he is still the sweetest of the bunch, always purring when he sees his foster mom. It is taking him some time to adjust a very noisy house, with dogs of all sizes and resident cats. Duncan likes to burrow under blankets during the day and sleeps with his foster peeps. He is gentle, relatively quiet for a Siamese and enjoys some belly time with mom. Easily to startle, he would do best in a quieter home with cat companionship of course as he misses his brothers and their play time.

Duncan is ready to start a new chapter “take two” and is getting lots of love, attention and reaffirmation that he did nothing wrong and we ARE committed to finding him the MOST AMAZING FOREVER HOME!

Welcome BACK Duncan Bunz!

The first step in our adoption process is the application which can be found on our website lapcats.org.

The first step in our adoption process is the application which can be found on our website lapcats.org.

All of our cats have tested negative for FELV and are fully vaccinated. They have not only been spayed or neutered but have also been treated for worms, fleas, and have been micro chipped.

We will register their microchip for you, provide you with a free exam visit to a participating Sacramento veterinarian, and a goodie bag! We do not do out of state adoptions for the safety of our cats.
