Drex's Story

Drex is a charming little guy with plenty of pep in his step. He lands in that lovely middle ground where he enjoys play, bursts of zoomy energy, and cozy downtime in equal measure. He likes to know what his people are up to, will meet you at the door, and has a very cute habit of winding figure eights around your legs as he checks in.

He is more of a nearby companion than a full time lap cat, though he is absolutely happy to climb into a lap now and then for kisses and affection. He enjoys pets, nose boops, and being included in the rhythm of daily life. Drex has an easy way about him where he can share space without needing constant attention, which makes his affection feel especially sweet.

When it is time to play, Drex is a lot of fun. He loves wand toys, chasing after little things, and tearing around the house when the mood strikes. On hardwood floors, that often turns into some very entertaining slipping and sliding. He also enjoys quieter moments by the window, taking in the world outside. Mealtime is another favorite part of his day, and he is always happy to accept a treat.

Drex can be shy in a new environment and will need a calm place to decompress while he gets his bearings. Sudden noises and unfamiliar surroundings can make him cautious at first, so he will do best with someone who understands that settling in is part of the process. As he relaxes, his personality starts to shine.

He also appears to have cerebellar hypoplasia, which causes slight tremors and a bit of wobbliness, especially on slick surfaces. It does not hold him back. Drex still plays, explores, zooms around, and goes about life with plenty of enthusiasm. It is simply one more part of what makes him uniquely himself.

Like a lot of playful cats, Drex can get tempted by moving feet and occasionally tries to join in on the action. He is still learning, and does best when that playful energy gets redirected to toys. Because of that, a home without very young children would likely suit him best. While he may enjoy the company of another animal, he could also be very content soaking up attention as the star of the show in the right home. He has not lived with dogs, though a respectful one may be a possibility.

Drex is a sweet, spirited, slightly wobbly boy who just needs a soft place to land and someone willing to give him a little time.

Interested in meeting Drex?
