Drew (Adoption Pending)'s Story

Meet Drew: Professional Friend, Part-Time Ninja, Full-Time Blanket Inspector

Drew's story began when he and his brother entered foster care at just 112 weeks old as tiny bottle babies. He was bottle-fed around the clock until he was successfully weaned at five weeks old. Since then, he has spent every day proving that all that hard work was worth it.

Drew approaches life with the enthusiasm of someone who has had three cups of coffee and a very important meeting to attend. His days are filled with chasing cat springs, perfecting his ninja skills, and hunting flies with a level of dedication that has earned him the nickname "The Exterminator." Somewhere out there, flies whisper his name in fear.

When he's not busy protecting the household from airborne invaders, Drew can usually be found wrapped in a throw blanket like a tiny king enjoying his royal robes. He firmly believes blankets were invented specifically for him and that beds are meant to be sharedwith him occupying most of the important space, of course.

Drew has never met a cat he didn't want to be friends with. In his mind, every cat is a potential best friend, whether they're an energetic kitten, a laid-back adult, or a senior citizen who would really prefer he stop touching them. Drew remains optimistic. If at first he doesn't succeed, he'll try introducing himself again five minutes later.

Growing up alongside cats ranging from bottle babies to seniors has made him comfortable with felines of all ages. He's also been raised with a 120-pound Great Pyrenees, a 70-pound Labrador Retriever, and a 70-pound Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix. As a result, Drew has absolutely no concept of what constitutes a "large dog." He simply assumes everyone is a friend and carries on with his day.

He's also done wonderfully with children ages 3 and older. Whether supervising playtime, accepting attention, or inserting himself into activities he wasn't invited to, Drew is always happy to participate. He considers himself an important member of every committee.

Today, Drew is a confident, affectionate cat who loves everyone he meets and assumes they feel the same way about him. He'll make you laugh with his antics, steal your favorite blanket, sleep in your bed, and enthusiastically attempt to befriend every creature in the household. Drew may have started life as a tiny bottle baby, but he has grown into a world-class cuddle bug, accomplished fly hunter, and relentless ambassador of friendship.

If you're looking for a cat with personality, charm, and just a touch of lovable chaos, Drew would like to schedule an interview. Preferably from underneath a blanket.

Drew is scheduled to be neutered on June 15th (potenially sooner), but we are accepting early applications!

Drew is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but can be transported to the northeast. His adoption fee is $300.

When Drew's Adoption Application is received, you will be contacted about transport details.

If interested in meeting Drew, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $100–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
