Dorothy's Story

Meet Dorothy! This FIV-pawsitive girl is ready for her forever home! Dorothy is a wonderfully sweet little tortie! She had a rough start to life, and is still working through some anxiety, but has lots of love to share. Dorothy does very well with other cats. She hasn't been exposed to dogs but would probably do well with them also. She has been friendly and playful with the resident kitten, but is also submissive to older cats who don't like to play, and gives them space. Dorothy spent the first portion of her life in an outdoor colony and is really working to trust and love human friends too. She has come a very long with in the past couple of months, but has progress to make still. She is never aggressive, but can be shy and easily startled. Dorothy loves to be pet and brushed, will sit on a lap or snuggle in bed, but does not yet like to be picked up or held. She currently lives with young kids too, and is always very gentle with them - though sometimes scared of their noise levels. Dorothy loves to play! Her favorite toys are wand chasers, but she also really loves to sneak attack and shred Kleenex. Although she spent the first part of her life in an outdoor colony, Dorothy has acclimated well to the indoor life. Her litter box manners are perfect, no accidents. She loves to sleep in bed with humans at night, and hang out with everyone during the day. She likes to hang out in the outdoor catio or watch birds out the window. Dorothy is now ready for a loving home! She'll need someone who is patient and willing to wait for her to acclimate and gain trust. She is a very sweet and playful little girl, and wants to be friendly, but is cautious. With a good amount of love and kindness, she'll blossom!
